From a letter written to Rachel LeFever (wife of Thomas Moore) from her "cousin" Mary J. McConnell. May be an obituary copied by hand (from a newspaper?) of Hannah Moore: . ----------------------- "Died . Moore . On the 7 of July near Webster City in Hamilton County, Mrs. Hannah Moore aged (?) 89. . This most estimable and cherished friend has passed away after having suffered much. She has gone to the Dear Savior in whom she put her trust. . She was kind and gentle through life, sweet in her disposition. Her charitable feeling extended to all as she was warmly attached to all her friends and neighbors. She has gone to the tomb with all those virtues that make life what it should be; she was indeed a most devoted and exemplary mother. . In the years of her helplessness, she was tenderly cared for by her only daughter, Mrs. E. Bailey, whom she has lived with for a number of years. Her death is deeply mourned by a large circle of friends and relatives. . May her memory be revered and her example even be followed by those that knew her best." ----------------------- . . Thanks to Beth Moore for finding the following information on a trip to Hamilton County, Iowa, June, 2004. . Grave stone says, "Hannah Moore, age 89 years 7 months and 15 days" . Obituary in Freeman Journal 7/16/1879 Vol. 21 Issue 4: . "Died On July 7, 1879, at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. George Bailey, in Cass twp, Hamilton County, IA, Mrs. HANNAH MOORE in the 89th year of her age. Deceased was a native of Washington County, PA. She was reared in the Society of Friends, of which she remained a member until death--A more beautiful old age than hers is seldom seen. Her mental powers were retained in a remarkable degree, while her spiritual nature, so long and faithfully cultivated, shed a halo of light around the sunset of her days, that caused all to rejoice her beheld it. Her work finished, she turned her eyes wistfully toward her reward, and departed in full expectation of receiving it. Amen." .
